4.
Remove the power supply unit, fan tray, and all disk drives to reduce the
weight of the cabinet and protect the disk drives from damage. Refer to
MAINTENANCE, Hardware Removal, for instructions on removing
assemblies. Be sure to note the slot position of all disk drives, since they
must be replaced in the same slot. PCAs in slots A1 through A14 need not
be removed.
5.
If the system has been in service, disconnect all cables from the rear of the
cabinet. Be sure to note the cable positions, since they must be reconnected
exactly as they were.
6.
Install the rack mounting brackets to the front vertical flanges of the VP 300
cabinet with the screws provided, using a phillips screw driver. Refer to
Figure 3-6.
7.
Determine what space the VP 300 will occupy in the rack, and install the
support rails from the rack manufacturer appropriately.
8.
Using a tape measure, determine where the speed nuts provided by the
manufacturer should clip on the rack vertical rails in order to line up with
the holes in the VP 300 rack mounting brackets.
The preceding step is not necessary if the rack has threaded holes in
the vertical mounting rails.
9.
Two people are needed to move the cabinet into the rack. Lift the partially
empty cabinet onto the support rails in the rack. You may need to remove
the leveling feet on the bottom of the cabinet so that the cabinet can sit
properly on the support rails.
10. Secure the cabinet to the rack using the mounting screws provided by the
rack manufacturer.
11. Install all assemblies removed in step 4 and secure them to the cabinet.
Refer to MAINTENANCE, Hardware Removal, for instructions on
installing assemblies.
12. If the system has been in service, install all cables in the back of the cabinet
as they were before beginning this procedure. If not, follow the additional
installation procedures in the Connecting the PBX to the VP 300 section of
this chapter.
13. Power up the system and test operation. Refer to the Testing section in this
chapter.
14. Replace and lock the front door to the cabinet.
