Functionality
The local acceleration logic function DSTPLAL is a complementary function to the
distance protection function DSTPDIS. DSTPLAL is not intended for a stand-alone
use.
The main purpose of DSTPLAL is to achieve a fast fault clearing which is
independent of the fault location on the protected feeder when no communication
channel is available between the local and remote terminals. DSTPLAL enables a fast
fault clearing during certain conditions, but the function cannot completely replace
the communication scheme logic.
