Reverse the above procedures for reassembly.

After replacement, adjust the ribbon tension according to the procedure in Section 6.19 Adjusting Timing

Belt Tension .
CAUTION:
A PROPERLY TENSIONED BELT WILL BE JUST ENOUGH TO PREVENT SLIPPAGE.
AN OVERLY TENSIONED BELT WILL EXCESSIVELY INCREASE DRAG ON THEIR
PULLEYS AND INCREASE COMPONENT WEAR.

7.6 REPLACING TORQUE LIMITER (RIBBON UNWINDER)

Before proceeding, switch off the printer and remove the main cover, left housing cover and the top left

housing cover to gain access to the internal (electrical and mechanism) hardware. Refer to Section 7.1
Removal of Housing cover for details.
Unscrew five screws (1) to detach the Main (CONT) PCB bracket (2) from the printer frame.

Locate the Ribbon unwinder assembly which is on the top left of the mechanism as shown above.

Remove four screws (3) securing the Ribbon unwinder bracket (6) to the printer frame. Remove another

two screws (4) that hold the two ribbon shafts to the ribbon unwinder bracket (6). There are two ball
bearings (5) attached to the tip of the ribbon shafts , take note on the direction of inserting the ball bear-
ings to the bracket holes.
Remove the E-ring (7) from the upper ribbon shaft (13) and then the Ribbon Gear_J(50) (8).
