6.9 ADJUSTING AND CHECKING SENSORS (Cont'd)
CONT PCB
Remove the side cover to reveal the Main PCB (CONT board) . Please refer to step 2 and 3 of Section
1.
6.2 Checking the Direct-Current Power Supply .
When using the optional Test Module for checking, connect the optional Test Module to the CHK
2.
connector as shown below. Set the digital multimeter to direct-current voltage mode. Connect [+] probe to
"SIG" and [-] probe to "GND" of Test Module . Turn the dial to "5" .
If Test Module is not available, connect [+] probe of the multimeter to " CH2B " and [-] probe to " CH1A " of
the CHK connector as specified above.
Disengage the Head lock Lever and the Lid Latch to allow media loading. Physically position the media,
3.
with the label gap or tag hole rests over the Gap/ Center hole sensor.
Note:
To stabilize the sensor level, make sure the print head assembly is locked and the media is threaded
correctly.
Avoid I-Mark when positioning the label gap on sensor.
Use the microdriver to adjust the GAP potentiometer ( VR6 ) until the sensor level shows 0.5V or below on
4.
the multimeter.
Re-position the media, with the label or the tag is oriented over the sensor directly.
5.
Check the sensor level and make sure the difference between the high levels (Label/tag portion) and the
6.
low (label gap or liner / tag hole portion) is +1.0V or more. If the level difference is less than + 1.0V, retry
step 3 and 4 , and adjust VR6 to set the level difference to a maximum value.
Table of normal performance values:
Low level (label gap or liner / tag hole portion):
High level (print area) - Low level (Gap/ hole area):
Press the
/
arrow buttons to switch to SLICE LEVEL adjustment screen. Press the
7.
to adjust the slice level.
Setting the slice level to 0.0V enables automatic setting. Set slice level to the result of (High Voltage Level
+ Low Voltage Level) / 2. Individual results may vary.
The slice level can be set within the range of 0.0V to 3.2V . Save changes by pressing the FEED button.
If having difficulties adjusting the sensor level properly, clean the sensor portion and check the connector
8.
connection. If the problem persists, replace the sensor.
