Section 6: Checks and Adjustment Procedures
6.2 CHECKING THE DIRECT-CURRENT POWER SUPPLY
This checking procedure enables checking various direct current voltages of the Main PCB (CONT board) .
These checking activities require the use of a multimeter and may be performed with or without the assistance
of the SATO Test Module . The test module is a purchase option.
Required Tools:
•
Digital multimeter
•
Phillips screwdriver
•
SATO Test Module, optional
Switch off the printer.
1.
Base on the Media ejection slot as the front, locate the
2.
large housing cover that is the left-most panel. Locate the
two screws at the bottom part of this cover. With a Phillips
screwdriver, remove these two screws.
From the bottom of the left housing cover, lift the cover
3.
upward as shown and remove the cover.
Locate the CHK connector on the top right corner of the
4.
Main PCB (CONT board) .
When using the optional Test Module for checking, connect the optional Test Module to the CHK con-
nector as shown below.
If Test Module is not available, direct measurement on CHK connector is possible. Refer below illustra-
tion to locate the required pins.
Turn on the printer and set the digital multimeter to direct-current voltage mode.
5.
When using the Test Module , set the module's switch [Test Module dial setting as specified below]. Con-
nect the [+] and [-] probe of the multimeter to the Test Module .
If Test Module is not available, connect [+] probe of the multimeter to " CHxx " and [-] probe to " CH1A " of
the CHK connector as specified below.
•
Connect [+] probe to CH3A , [-] probe to CH1A , and then measure at +5.0V (Test Module dial setting:
0).
•
Connect [+] probe to CH4A , [-] probe to CH1A , and then measure at +1.7V (Test Module dial setting:
1).
•
Connect [+] probe to CH5A , [-] probe to CH1A , and then measure at +3.3V (Test Module dial setting:
2).
•
Connect [+] probe to CH6A , [-] probe to CH1A , and then measure at +24.0V (Test Module dial setting:
3).
Turn the printer OFF.
