Adding instruments to R&S SGMA-GUI
For information on how to install the R&S SGMA-GUI software, refer to
ter 3.1.13.1, "Installing the R&S SGMA-GUI
1. For each new instrument perform the following steps:
a) Connect the instrument to the network.
b) Press the [POWER ON/STANDBY] key to switch on the instrument.
c) Wait until the [POWER ON/STANDBY] LED is green and not blinking.
d) Press the [ID] key on the front panel of the instrument.
2. Start the SGMA-GUI on a computer connected to the same network.
3. Open the "Instruments" dialog.
4. Select "Scan".
Note: This step is performed automatically on the first start and can also be omit-
ted for instruments with a direct LAN connection to the computer.
All instruments are added automatically to the main panel of the SIGMA-GUI.

Connecting a controller via PCI Express
Using the "PCIe" interface for remote control of the R&S SGT requires extended
knowledge. See

Connecting a controller via USB
The USB interface on the rear panel of the R&S SGT allows you to connect either a
USB device or use the R&S SGT as a device and connect it to a controller.
Connecting a controller (host PC or compatible signal generator)
If you connect a controller (host PC or compatible signal generator) to the R&S SGT,
the R&S SGT acts as a USB device.
To connect the controller to the USB interface of the R&S SGT, always connect the
USB type Micro-B connector to the R&S SGT. Refer to the documentation of the con-
troller to find out which USB connector type you can connect to the controller.
