Resetting
stands for degree, "RAD" for radian. You can switch between the angle units
by using the <RAD> and/or <DEG> keys. Switchover of the angle unit is ac‐
companied by a new labeling of the function keys relating to the angle unit
according to the new status.
You can convert a display value into degree or radian as follows:
1.
Adjust the currently set angle unit to the unit that you associate with the
display value. For converting a value from degree into radian, click on
"RAD", otherwise on "DEG".
2.
Now press "2nd" and "►rad" or "►deg" for the actual conversion. As for
each other function, the result is displayed immediately.
Using the key sequence "2nd" "%", the displayed figure is converted from a
figure into a percentage by dividing it by 100.
If "%" is pressed after an arithmetic operation, additions, reductions and per‐
centages can be calculated as follows:
Adding an addition, i.e. addition of n% to x:
x "+" n "%" "="
Settling a reduction, i.e. subtraction of n% from x:
x "-" n "%" "="
Multiplication by a percentage, multiplication of x by n%:
x "×" n "%" "="
Division by a percentage, i.e. division of x by n%:
x "÷" n "%" "=".
As opposed to squaring and extracting the square root, the exponentiation and
root extraction with any exponent do not constitute a function. The exponen‐
tiation/root extraction is an operator analog to those for the basic arithmetic
operations and for the performance, you need a first and a second operand.
In the exponentiation, the first operand is the base and the second one the
exponent.
In the root extraction, the operands are called "radicand" and "exponent of a
root".
For the exponentiation xⁿ, you enter x "xⁿ" n, for the root ⁿ√x analogously x
"2nd" "ⁿ√x" n. Here, you can use brackets, as well if the operands consist of an
expression.
In the classic operating mode, the calculator only offers the constant π (Pi) that
can be activated using the "π" key or the <P> shortcut.
Errors and Correction of Entries
Error
Errors in the calculation can be caused by:
an undefined operation,
a function call with inadmissible argument or
by a number overflow in the final or an interim result.
In all these situations, "Error" appears in the display in order to signal the error
status. Afterwards, the error must be deleted before you can continue working.
The calculator including the stored interim results and the repetition memory is
reset using the <C> key or the <Del> shortcut. The same operation is to be
used for deleting an error. The reset will not influence the memory or the set
modes.
