2-2 Star Remote System hardware
When one of the two units of the Star Hub goes out of service, the in-service
unit takes full control of the other unit's line subgroups in addition to its own
line subgroups. In addition, the in-service unit has access to the C-side links
used by the out-of-service mate unit. This activity is called a mate takeover.
The following figure shows the basic architecture of the Star Remote System.
