Using the method below, calculate the relationship between the effective pendulum length and
the hoisting height for each spreader length:
Carry out oscillation tests with the relevant spreader length at two different hoisting heights:
● Measure two frequencies
● Calculate the resulting effective pendulum lengths
Note
For the purpose of the oscillation tests, choose two hoisting heights at the furthest possible
distance from one another. For example, the first hoisting height could be in the bottom third
and the second hoisting height in the top third of the hoisting height range.
Note
The greater the distance is between the hoisting heights for the two oscillation tests, the more
accurate the test results will be. However, you should not use the maximum hoisting height
because there is a risk that the measurement result will be falsified at this height by other effects
such as diagonal pull or restricted field of view of the camera.
When the oscillation tests have been completed, the hoist should be moved to the maximum
and minimum hoisting heights in each case in order to verify the measurement results.
