Overview of the software

Application projects

Two application projects are included in the scope of delivery:
● SwayControl_SimoD_STS_PN
● SwayControl_SimoD_GSU_PN
As indicated by the project names, one application project is for STS cranes and the other is for
GSU cranes.
Both application projects contain a SIMATIC part and a SCOUT part.
The SIMATIC part of the project contains a complete control system for the Sway Control
blocks. The SIMATIC part of the project is a software example which the user can use as a
basis for programming. The software example includes important core functions, the correct
control system and the evaluation of error messages. The user can adapt and expand the
control system in line with requirements. The SIMATIC part of the project does not form part of
the product and is not discussed any further here. An application description is included on the
product DVD.
The SCOUT part of the project contains the actual product. This includes the necessary
libraries, blocks, charts, calls, etc. The user must transfer this content into the user project. A
detailed description of how to do this will be given below.
The SCOUT part of the two application projects is described in the following chapters. Each
application comprises several components:
● DCC chart "SwayControl": This drive control chart contains all the DCC blocks, including the
interconnections.
● MCC source file "AddOn": This MCC source file manages the communication between the
controller (SIMATIC S7)/SIMOCRANE Basic Technology and the SIMOTION Sway
Control.
● MCC source file "Camera": This MCC source file reads and processes the camera data. Use
with a camera measuring system is only possible with STS cranes.
3.1.1

SCOUT project GSU

The "SwayControl_SimoD_GSU_PN.xml" project is required for the application "Grab ship
unloader (GSU) without camera measuring system".
It contains the following blocks:
