Sway Control function description
6.10 Blocked regions
Explanation of the diagram:
● Blocked region height = current hoist position (lower edge of spreader) + P72 + P108
● If a spreader is not locked, the blocked region is placed at "lower edge of spreader + P72 +
P108".
● If the container is removed following the learning travel, i.e. if both control bits
LOCKED_BIT0 and LOCKED_BIT1 are reset, the blocked region is reduced by P108. In
other words, the blocked region is located at "lower edge of spreader + P72".
Technological explanation: When spreader A is unlocked, the blocked region must not be
lowered to below the lower edge of the spreader (see diagram "Forming blocked regions -
scenarios B and C") because a real obstacle might be present at the non-locked position of
spreader B.
Scenario D
Scenario D defines a learning travel if all of the containers are locked. It is applicable to all
spreader constellations.

Figure 6-18
Explanation of the diagram:
● Blocked region height = current hoist position (lower edge of spreader) + P72 or P78 + P108
- 2 m
● If both spreaders are locked, the blocked region is placed at "lower edge of spreader + P72
or P78 + P108 - 2 m".
● If the containers are removed following the learning travel, i.e. if both control bits
LOCKED_BIT0 and LOCKED_BIT1 are reset, the blocked region is reduced by P108. In
other words, the blocked region is located at "lower edge of spreader + P72 - 2 m".
The minimum container height takes account of the possibility that some of the containers
might be lower than P108 in height.
