In the HP VEE menu:

Edit Preferences
check Convert infinity to 9.9E37
This sets up HP VEE so it can directly access data from the
HP E1313/E1413 FIFO and CVT registers. This is required because
the HP E1313/E1413 has implemented IEEE 754 Floating Point
Format which includes special codes for " plus infinity" , " minus
infinity" , and " not a number". These special codes causes a floating
point math error in HP VEE, thus they must be converted to a number
which HP VEE can handle such as 9.9E37.
