Removing an MX2008 RCB
The MX2008 host subsystem consists of two Routing and Control Boards (RCBs). The RCB is an integrated
board and a single FRU that provides Routing Engine and Control Board functionality and supports
virtualization.
To remove an RCB (see
NOTE:
You can remove the RCB as a unit.
CAUTION:
handles properly to avoid damage to the equipment.

there is only one host subsystem, taking the host subsystem offline shuts down the
router.
1. Take the host subsystem offline.
2. Place an electrostatic bag or antistatic mat on a flat, stable surface.
3. Attach an electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap to your bare wrist, and connect the strap to
one of the ESD points on the chassis.
4. Open the ejector handle outward to unseat the RCB.
5. Grasp the ejector handle, and slide the RCB about halfway out of the chassis.
6. Place one hand underneath the RCB to support it, and slide it completely out of the chassis.
7. Place the RCB on the antistatic mat or into an antistatic bag.
8. If you are not replacing the RCB immediately, install a blank panel over the empty slot.
