Tracing

If you encounter problems on customer site with your HiPath 3000 or HG1500, it is possible to
gain traces via the Plug PC. First, you must configure the traces in your HiPath 3000/HG 1500.

Executing the X-Trace

Procedure
1.
Access the Plug PC's Smart Services Assistant.
2.

3.
Click New. The "Edit X-Tracer entry" window opens. It consists of the "Parameters", Multi-
ple files options", and "Capture limits" section.
4.
Enter the required parameters, e.g., the HiPath 3000 trace type.
5.
Click Save. The changes are saved.
6.

Your other devices are configured the same way.

Executing the network trace

Be aware that you may not capture everything on the network if the customer has a switched
network. In this case, you either need a hub connected to the Plug PC, the HG1500 and the
HiPath 3000, or a mirror port on the customer's switch.
Please note that traces are not automatically restarted after a reboot of the Plug PC.
Procedure
1.
Access the Plug PC's Smart Services Assistant.
2.
Click Administration > Network capture. The "Network capture" window opens.
3.
Click New. The "Edit Network capture entry" window opens. It consists of the "Parameters",
Multiple file options", and "Capture limits" section.
4.
Enter the required parameters.
5.
Click Save. The changes are saved.
6.
Click Start. As from now traces will be collected on the USB stick.
