Noise may be due to a weak
lamp coupled with a highly
absorbing flame.
Noise may also be due to
acetone carryover from the

AAnalyst 200 User's Guide
Check and/or Remedy
Use the most sensitive wavelength listed
in the Recommended Conditions window
for the element being determined.
Increase lamp current or replace lamp.
Replace lamp or increase the lamp
current. Or try using the next widest slit
setting. (Although this may affect
sensitivity)
Contact a PerkinElmer service
representative.
Clean the burner head and burner
chamber as described in the Maintenance
chapter. Check for proper drainage.
Use background correction or vary the
gas flows to minimize flame absorption
or maximize flame stability.
increase the lamp current to the max
rating
replace the lamp
use the next widest slit setting (although
this may affect the sensitivity)
select a different wavelength or
separate analyte element from a highly
emissive matrix by chemical means.
Check the acetylene cylinder pressure.
For more information, refer to the User's
Guide.
Refer to the troubleshooting information
on the deuterium arc background
corrector later in this chapter.
