    Welcome Introduction Contact Information on page 2 1.1 Introduction The IVIS Lumina S5 is a high-sensitivity, low-noise imaging system enabling both fluorescent and bioluminescent imaging in vivo (Figure 1.1). The imaging system is compatible with the Smart High Throughput Imaging and ID Kit (CLS148875) and the MVI-2 Imager for multi-view imaging.

    2.4 Environmental Considerations for the System Components Location for the IVIS Lumina S5 Before the IVIS Lumina S5 is installed, consider the proper environment for the components. Install the equipment in an environment where: The temperature does not fluctuate widely and is maintained between 15-25 °C (59-77 °F).

    Pay close attention to receptacles and to points of connection between cords and equipment. Power Outages If the IVIS Lumina S5 experiences a loss of supply power, turn off the power switches for all components and do not restart the system until reliable power has been restored.

    6.1 Starting the IVIS Lumina S5 Imaging System NOTE: All components of the IVIS Lumina S5 should be left on at all times. Periodically rebooting the computer is permissible and does not affect camera operation. Plug the devices into the wall sockets in the installation location.

Remove the system cover (two people are recommended because the cover is bulky). Remove the black reservoir cap.

    ® software programs the CCD camera to maintain the CCD at -90° C. If the IVIS Lumina S5 remains on, the system maintains this temperature regardless of whether the Living Image software is open or the computer is turned on.
  • Page 32: Photographic Image Is Unacceptable

    8.3 Luminescent Image Is Unacceptable Binning, F/Stop, and exposure time affect the appearance of a luminescent image. Please refer to the Living Image Software Manual for IVIS Lumina S5 for instructions on setting binning, exposure time, and F/Stop values. In order to function properly and reduce camera noise, the CCD camera must be cooled to the demand temperature before acquiring an image.
