Possible Cause of Problem
There may be a break or leak in the
drain tubing.
The burner head may be clogged.
Gas flows may be set incorrectly.
Gas connections may be loose or a
leak may have occurred.
The air supply may contain excess
oxygen.
The wrong gas supplies may be in use.
Check and/or Remedy
Inspect tubing and replace if
necessary.
Check the burner head and
clean if necessary.
If running samples in organic
solvents, a flame that is too
lean can cause a flashback. If a
lean flame is required, adjust
the nebulizer uptake rate.
If you suspect a leak in the gas
lines, immediately close the
cylinder valve. If you need
assistance, contact the gas
supplier or a PerkinElmer
service representative. Gas
hoses and connections can be
checked for leaks by applying a
soapy solution and checking to
see if bubbles appear.
Be sure the air supply contains
less than 20% oxygen.
Check the source of the gases.
