4. Rear VSS Input Line Inspection
Turn the ignition switch ON.
Measure the voltage between the wire harness
side rear VSS 3P (Yellow) connector terminal
and ground.
Connection: Black/orange (+) Green/yellow ()
Does the battery voltage exist?
Open or short circuit in the Black/
NO
orange wire or Green/yellow wire
YES GO TO STEP 5.
5. Rear VSS Line Inspection
Check the Pink/green wire for continuity
to bend the between the ECM 21 P (Gray) and rear VSS 3P
(Yellow) connector terminals.

Is there continuity?
NO Open circuit in the Pink/green wire
between the ECM connector and rear
VSS connector
GO TO STEP 6.
YES
6. Rear VSS Line Short Circuit Inspection
Check the Pink/green wire for continuity
between the ECM 21P (Gray) connector terminal
to bend the
connector and ground.
Check the Pink wire for continuity between the
terminals.

and ground.
Is there continuity?
· Short circuit in the Pink/green wire
YES
between the ECM connector and rear
VSS connector
· Short circuit in the Pink wire at the
rear VSS
NO GO TO STEP 7.
7. Rear VSS Mechanical Inspection
Check the rear VSS for correct installation.
Remove the rear VSS (page 23-11),
any object on the sensor tip or ring gear surface,
also check for damage on the sensor tip.
Is it installed certainly?
Clean the rear VSS and ring gear, cor-

rectly install the rear VSS, or replace the
rear VSS
GO TO STEP 8.
YES
