Removing the propeller shaft
housing assembly
1. Remove the bolts 1 from the propeller
shaft housing.
2. Remove the propeller shaft housing
assembly 2.

NOTE:
• Insert flat-head screwdrivers between the
propeller shaft housing assembly and the
lower case to pry the assembly loose.
• If the propeller shaft housing assembly is
stuck to the lower case, use the special ser-
vice tools. See "Backlash" (6-17).
Disassembling the propeller shaft
assembly
1. Remove the shift plunger 1 from the
propeller shaft.
2. Remove the cross pin ring 2, and then
remove the cross pin 3 and dog clutch
4.
3. Pull out the spring 5 from the propeller
shaft.

1. Remove the reverse gear and shim(s).
2. Remove the ball bearing.

CAUTION:
Do not reuse the bearing, always replace
it with a new one.

3. Remove the oil seals and bushing.
