Appendix F
MPC850DSL
This appendix describes the features of the MPC850DSL and in particular discusses the
differences between it and the MPC850SR, as described in this manual. The MPC850SR is
pin compatible and functionally identical to the MPC850DE, with the addition of ATM and
UTOPIA interface support. The MPC850DSL is actually a subset of the MPC850SR.

F.1 MPC850DSL Overview

As Figure F-1 shows, the MPC850DSL is pin compatible and functionally identical to the
MPC850SR except that some functionality has been removed. This affects how this
document should be used in the following ways:
— SCC2 only supports Ethernet. All chapters describing other SCC functionality do
not apply to SCC2 on the MPC850DSL. If Ethernet is not used on SCC2, these
pins may be used as general purpose I/O.
— SCC3 only supports UART. All chapters describing other SCC functionality do
not apply to SCC3 on the MPC850DSL. If UART is not used on SCC3, these
pins may be used as general purpose I/O.
— There is no time slot assigner. Therefore, all references to implementation of the
time slot assigner do not pertain to the MPC850DSL.
— QMC microcode for multichannel HDLC is not supported.
