This appendix describes the features of the MPC850 and in particular discusses the
differences between it and the MPC850DE, which is described in this manual.

E.1 MPC850 Overview

As Figure E-1 shows, the MPC850 is pin compatible and functionally identical to the
MPC850DE except that it contains one SCCs rather than two. This affects how this
document should be used in the following ways:
— Signals that support SCC3 are not implemented, as described in Section E.1.1,
"Unimplemented Signals."
— The time-slot assignment must not include SCC3, as described in Section E.1.2,
"Serial Interface."
— Certain bits and register resources defined for SCC3 are not implemented, as
described in Section E.1.3, "SCC General Set-Up."
