The Print Cycle

There are seven steps in the OKI B6100 print cycle. This seven step cycle is repeated for each sheet of
paper that is sent through the printer.
The seven steps in the print cycle are:
1. Charge
2. Exposure
3. Development
4. Transfer
5. Discharge
6. Fusing
7. Cleaning
Figure 1 illustrates the OKI B6100 print cycle. It shows the sequence of events for the xerographic process
and the paper flow into and out of the printer.
Figure 2, on the following page, is both a cut-away side view of the OKI B6100 printer that shows the loca-
tion of individual components within the printer, and a side view block diagram that shows the major com-
ponents that are directly related to the print cycle and to the paper path.
The pages following Figure 2 describe in detail each step of the print cycle.
