6.4 Heat Rod Failure

Step
1
INITIAL ANALYSIS
Inspect the following components.
• Fuser Assy (PL6.1.7)
• Harness Assy Fuser-M (J271, J11, J27, J262) (PL6.1.12)
• PWBA HKB26 MCU (PL10.1.13)
• PWBA HKB PS (PL10.1.17)
• PWBA HVPS (PL10.1.20)
• ROS Assy (PL8.1.9)
Are they compatible with your printer version, correctly
installed, not damaged, deformed, or contaminated?

HEAT ROD ANALYSIS
Unplug the AC line from the wall outlet.
Disconnect P/J11 on the PWBA HKB PS.
Is there continuity between J11-1 and J11-2?

PWBA HKB PS (PL10.1.17) ANALYSIS
Perform these checks within 70 seconds after Fuser Warm-up
has finished. After 70 seconds, the LVPS shuts down.
Is there +3.3VDC between P282-1 and P282-2 on the
PWBA HKB PS?

HEAT ROD ACTUATOR SIGNAL ANALYSIS
Disconnect P/J28 from the PWBA HKB26 MCU.
Perform these checks when the Fuser Assy has cooled to
room temperature.
Is there 0VDC between P28-12 and P28-8 on the PWB HKB
MCU when you actuate the Switch Assy I/L Front
(PL10.1.12)?
Is there +5VDC between P28-12 and P28-8 on the PWB
HKB MCU when you deactuate the Switch Assy I/L Front
(PL10.1.12)?

HEAT ROD TEMPERATURE ANALYSIS
Disconnect P/J27 from the PWBA HKB26 MCU.
Is there the continuity between J24-2 and J27-1?
