none
None, BNode, PNode, MNode, HNode
This is the node type that the client receives.
The values for this parameter are as follows:
•
None: No node types are specified.
•
BNode: BNode is name resolution using broadcast
messages; it is the oldest method of name resolution
used on Microsoft
•
PNode: Hosts configured for PNode use WINS for
name resolution. PNode types register themselves
with the WINS server, which then functions as a
NetBIOS server.
•
MNode: MNode computers will first use BNode
name resolution, which succeeds only if the desired
host is on the local network. If this fails, MNode
will then attempt a PNode to resolve the name.
•
HNode: HNode is a combination of both BNode
and PNode. In this respect it is much like MNode.
MNode first resolves addresses using WINS;
HNode will use the local name server and then
revert to broadcast (BNode). This is the current
configuration for NT implementations.
