ISDN VPN
Creating and Modifying VPNs
117237-E Rev.00
Virtual Private Networking (VPN) allows you to specify which
numbers are to be associated with which telephone service
provider. For example, it may be necessary to route international
calls through one carrier while national calls are routed through
another carrier. VPN allows the more even spreading of costs
across different telephone providers.
VPNs are created and modified in the isdn# object. To create or
modify a VPN, use the following syntax:
[co] is [new|mod] vp number/vpn-number
where co moves the BCC into config mode (if required), is is the
MTD for the isdn# object, new and mod are the new and modify
verbs (optional), vp is the MTD for the vpn# object, number is
the area or country code against which the VPN is matched and
vpn-number is the account number for the service provider that
carries this call.
For example, if all calls to Britain (country code 44) are to be
carried by a specific service provider, the following VPN can be
created:
isdn# new vp 44/132
In this instance, whenever the router detects a call starting with 44
(the country code for Britain) it dials the account number 132,
and then the rest of the telephone number, thus routing this call
through a specific provider.
Once created, the BCC moves you into the VPN object. Typing i
at this prompt lists all the VPN parameters.
