PTP Tab
This tab shows statistics and options pertaining to your system's PTP clocking. Two global PTP modes are
possible: Master / Slave mode, and Slave Only mode.
·
For most installations, Lawo recommends Slave Only mode. In this mode, the Power Core works in
conjunction with an external PTP grandmaster clock. This mode is required for any installation where
RAVENNA port redundancy with automatic failover switching is desired.
·
Master / Slave mode is provided as a convenience for users with no more than two consoles and a few
RAVENNA devices. In this mode, the Power Core supplies its own clock sync. RAVENNA port
redundancy is not available in this mode.
Any changes made to PTP settings on this tab require restart of PTP to take effect, which will immediately
interrupt all active RAVENNA streams. On Air Designer is best used to assign and modify these values.
·
Configuration / Control. This section gives information about the chosen PTP clock mode. When in
Slave Only mode, the values shown are for information and cannot be changed. When in Master / Slave
mode, values may be adjusted.
·
Slave-Only Engine. The two graphs monitor PTP jitter across the system. This is useful for system
analysis and debugging in conjunction with a Lawo Support technician. As a rule of thumb, the "Clock
Connection Value" display should be stable with little variance over time as an indication of good system
health. High activity in the "Time Difference" display is normal and to be expected.
·
Global Data indicates the system's PTP mode, the active clock ID and address, and the grandmaster
clock ID. These IDs may differ if your system uses a boundary clock.
·
Master / Slave Engine. Shows whether this mode is active, and displays the clock ID if this mode is
enabled.
