DTC P2502
Generator terminal B circuit open
• PCM judges generator output voltage is above 17 V or battery voltage is below 11 V during engine
DETECTION
CONDITION
running.
• Open circuit between generator terminal B and battery positive terminal
• Battery malfunction
POSSIBLE
• Generator malfunction
CAUSE
• PCM is poorly connected.
• PCM, generator and/or battery are poorly connected.
Diagnostic procedure
STEP
1
PERFORM DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE
• Perform DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE.
(See
F–66 DTC CONFIRMATION
PROCEDURE.)
• Is same DTC present?

INSPECT BATTERY
• Turn ignition key to OFF.
• Inspect battery.
• Is battery okay?

INSPECT POOR INSTALLATION OF
GENERATOR TERMINAL
• Turn ignition key to OFF.
• Inspect for looseness of generator terminal B
installation nut.
• Is nut loose?
4
INSPECT POOR INSTALLATION OF BATTERY
POSITIVE TERMINAL
• Inspect for looseness of battery positive
terminal.
• Is terminal loose?
5
INSPECT BATTERY CHARGING CIRCUIT
• Start engine.
• Disconnect battery positive terminal.
• Does engine stall?

ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC
INSPECTION
Yes Go to next step.
No
Intermittent concern exists. Go to INTERMITTENT
CONCERN TROUBLESHOOTING procedure.

F–227 INTERMITTENT CONCERN
TROUBLESHOOTING.)
Yes Replace battery, then go to Step 6.
No
Go to next step.
Yes Tighten generator terminal B installation nut, then go to
Step 6.
No
Go to next step.
Yes Connect battery positive terminal correctly, then go to Step
6.
No
Go to next step.
Yes Repair or replace harness between generator terminal B
and battery positive terminal, then go to next step.
No
Go to next step.
