1. Mark the respective positions of the steer­
ing wheel hub and steering column, and
remove the steering wheel.

_ During the operation, take care NOT
fm
TO STRIKE THE STEERING WHEEL.
The device is fitted with a safety
catch to prevent the upper and lower
plates turning in relation to one an-
othe rwhen the steering wheel is not
fitted in the car. To achieve this,
springs (1) close as shown in the fig­
ure.
2. Unscrew the bolts fastening the upper and
lower steering column guards.
3. Disconnect the connection connecting
the clock spring to the Air Bag lead (yel­
low). Undo the three clock spring bolts
and then remove.
Once the steering wheel has been re­
moved, the clock spring is blocked so
that the lower and upper plates can­
not turn..
If the upper plate of the clock spring
should turn in relation to the lower
for any reason, so that the position
upon removal is lost, the CLOCK
SPRING
MUST
BE
REPLACED.
Once the clock spring has been re­
moved, carefully secure the device to
prevent the two plates from turning
accidentally.
Reverse order of removal operations
to refit. When refitting the steering
wheel, tighten the nut securing it to
the steering column to a torque of 5
daNm.
