VISUALLY INSPECT CONDITION OF:
PIPES, RUBBER ELEMENTS, FLEXI­
BLE PIPES FOR BRAKING SYSTEM
AND FUEL SYSTEM
Position the vehicle on a lift. Visually inspect:
- for the presence of any fluid leaks from the
following systems: lubrication, fuel, engine
cooling, braking and power assisted steer­
ing;
- the condition of the rubber elements: bush­
es, flexible (support) mountings and (pro­
tective) boots; check that the collars retain­
ing the pipes and bushes have not loos­
ened.
Check that the wires and cables for the re­
taining brackets in the engine compartment
are correctly positioned.
Also check for possible interference of the flexible brake pipes in maximum steering conditions.
Q CHECK CONDITION AND TENSION OF VARIOUS DRIVE BELTS AND ADJUST, IF NECES­
SARY
The tension of the various drive belts is checked using tool 1895762000. Engines equipped with auto­
matic tensioners are exempt from this check.

Check that alternator drive belt and power assisted steering drive belt tension, measured using the spe­
cial equipment, are within the recommended values given in the table at the bottom of this paragraph. If
the tension values are not correct, loosen the bolt (1), and rotate the tensioner further working on the
hexagonal opening, then tighten the bolt once again and check the tension of the alternator belt. To ad­
just the power assisted steering pump belt, act on the adjustment screw and the lock nut (2).
