DIAGNOSTICA
The system is equipped with an autodiagnostic function which is designed to verify an irregular state for
the following components:
Actuators
injectors
coils
charcoal filter solenoid valve
engine idle adjustment actuator
electric fuel pump relay
climate control relays (if fitted)
Sensors
engine speed sensor
vehicle speed sensor
Lambda sensor
butterfly position sensor
coolant temperature sensor
detonation sensor
Location of diagnostic connector
If a fault is detected and confirmed, it is perma
nently stored in the memory and the relevant
sensor is excluded from the system until normal
operation has been restored.
The detection of a confirmed fault usually in
volves the warning light in the dashboard corrj-
ing on: it goes out when the fault conditions no
longer exist.
NOTE During starting, the warning light is:
- on for about 4 seconds,
- off for 0.1 seconds;
- kept on I off permanently according to
whether or not "permanent" errors are
present.
Working with the diagnostic equipment, it is possible to carry out a complete fault diagnosis of the sys
tem, which consists of three stages:
- display of a series of functional parameters (with the engine switched off or running);
- display of the errors and their cancelling;
- activation of certain actuators (active diagnosis).
Recovery strategy
If a fault is detected with the sensors/actuators, the control unit, where possible, replaces the missing in
formation, reconstructing it using software (recovery) to allow the opertion of the engine.
