8.12.2 Status Event Register (ESR)

Events reported by the STANDARD EVENT STATUS register may be queried via the *ESR?
command. Reading the ESR register clears it. The EVENT STATUS summary bit in the STATUS
BYTE (STB) will be set when an unmasked EVENT STATUS bit goes true.

Setting an EVENT STATUS ENABLE (ESE) bit true unmasks the EVENT bit in the ESR. Also see
:SYSTem:ERRor? query for relevant information.

DEFINITION
POWER ON indicates Input power was just applied
USER REQUEST indicates "LOCAL" key was just pressed
COMMAND ERROR indicates invalid command or query received
EXECUTION ERROR indicates can't execute command with data received
DEVICE DEPENDANT ERROR indicates UPC not properly configured
QUERY ERROR indicates cannot respond with data
REQUEST CONTROL - not used
OPERATION COMPLETE indicates previous operation complete
