20.5.1 16-bit free-run timer count timing

The 16-bit free-run timer is incremented based on the input clock (internal or external clock). When exter-
nal clock is selected, the 16-bit free-run timer is incremented at the rising edge.

Counter value
The counter can be cleared upon a reset, software clear, or a match with compare register 0. By a reset or
software clear, the counter is immediately cleared. By a match with compare register 0, the counter is
cleared in synchronization with the count timing.
