12.1 Outline
UART is a serial I/O port for asynchronous communications or CLK synchronous communications. UART
has the following features:

Full-duplex double buffers

Asynchronous or CLK synchronous communications

Multi-processor mode

Built-in dedicated baud rate generator
Asynchronous: 9615, 31250, 4808, 2404, 1202 bps
CLK synchronous: 1 M, 500 K, 250 K, 125 K, 62.5 Kbps

Flexible baud rate setting by external clock
•
Error detection (parity, framing, and overrun)
•
NRZ sign transfer signals
•
Intelligent I/O service
(At an internal machine clock
of 6, 8, 10, 12, or 16 MHz)
