SUBJECT: NOISE FROM THE MAINFRAME BOTTOM PLATE
SYMPTOM:
A noise emanates from the area where the Mainframe connects to the Paper Feed Unit.
CAUSE:
One or more of the legs [A] attached between the Mainframe and Paper Feed Unit came off. This decreases
the gap between the two units. Since the Upper Plate of the PFU has a raised area to accommodate the
uppermost Paper Feed Clutch [B], the Mainframe can sometimes contact this raised portion when a missing
leg / legs cause the gap to decrease. The noise of the Clutch is then transmitted through and amplified by
the Mainframe Bottom Plate.
Note: Even if the gap has decreased, the noise is not always heard. In addition, the noise has a tendency to
occur when the two right legs have detached.
SOLUTION:
If the noise condition occurs, check if any of the legs (P/N G0271180) have detached and replace any that
have.
