SUBJECT: NOISE FROM THE EXIT ROLLERS
SYMPTOM:
A noise can be heard from the Exit Rollers. Sometimes the noise occurs with Exit Roller (P/N A2504180),
and sometimes with Exit Rollers (P/N G8004854/G0294181).
CAUSE:
A. Exit Roller (P/N A2504180):
The shaft for these Rollers is supported at both ends and in the center by the Pressure Roller Case. Friction
occurs between the shaft and the central shaft support of the Pressure Roller Case.
B. Exit Rollers (P/N G8004854/G0294181):
When the user tries to remove jammed paper without first releasing the Pressure Release Lever, this can put
excessive stress on the Spring Plate causing it to deform. This can also put excessive stress on the Roller
Shaft, causing shaft damage and noise.
SOLUTIONS:
A. Exit Roller (P/N A2504180):
Apply Barrierta Grease (P/N A2579300) to the central shaft support of the Pressure Roller Case.
It is critical that only Barierta Grease (P/N A2579300) be used, and no other. If different grease is used, the
noise may subside temporarily, but friction will gradually increase and cause the noise to recur.
B. Exit Rollers (P/N G8004854/G0294181):
Replace the rollers that exhibit the noise, along with their Spring Plates (P/N A2504183/A2504184,
respectively). Although the noise may subside temporarily using the Barierta Grease (P/N A2579300) as
mentioned above, the cause of this noise is not friction, but physical damage. Therefore, the noise would
most likely recur without Exit Roller/Spring Plate replacement.
However, if replacement parts are not available and grease is used as a temporary solution, it is again
critical to use only Barierta Grease (P/N A2579300). As stated above, any other grease will cause a gradual
build-up of friction and a recurrence of the noise.
   
