Understanding
the Computer Module
The Function Cards
is used to enable the master card to identify the local card type and position in the cluster.
This may also be used to test the local card for compatibility with the master card.
The identifier is implemented as a pair of octal bus driver ICs that are hard-wired with
information on the card type, hardware revision and version. Five of the pins are connected to
the 96 pin connector; these are used to present the slot code, hard-wired in the backplane, to
the identifier.
If a latch on the master card presents an Access .Identifier (ACC) to the local card at the same
time as the comparator finds a match for the higher address bits and the slot code, then the 16
bit ID- WORD is placed onto the Local Bus.

Configurable Processor Card (CPC)
The Configurable Processor Card (CPC) is responsible for all the data processing of the HP
Component Central Monitor. The CPC receives data from the MPB, processes that data, and
places the results back on the MPB.
Based on a 68EC030 microprocessor, the CPC uses a true 32-bit wide address and data bus, and
is specifically designed for flexibility in future configurations. Configurable options include
clock speed, amount of ROM, amount of DRAM, memory speed, and the addition of a daughter
card.
The technical information listed below describes the CPC as it is currently configured for
the HP M2350A/M2360A Component Central Monitor. Each HP Component Central Monitor
contains an operating system CPC (slot 22) for the instrument's main application software, and,
if arrhythmia is present, a second CPC (slot 8) for the arrhythmia monitoring software.
