To Isolate From System Cabling
To ensure isolation from earth ground for safety testing, all system cabling that runs through
wall boxes must be disconnected from the waII boxes, and all components must be set up in the
same
room
and reconnected. Refer to Figure 11-3 or Figure 11-4 for the correct repositioning
of equipment.
Caution
The safety checks DO NOT test the cabling in the walls from box to box.
To Isolate Wall and Ceiling Mounts
A wall or ceiling mount must be checked with an ohmmeter for isolation from earth ground.
Most HP M1180-series mounts wiII be found to be isolated. If not, either the equipment must
be removed from the mount or the mount must be modified.
Warning
1. To ensure test accuracy, equipment must be isolated electrically
from
earth ground.
2. During some of these tests, line power may be exposed on connector
pins. Use extreme caution and be alert to hazardous testing conditions
to avoid severe personal injury
or death.
