Removing and Replacing Components
Servicing the Display Module
To Remove the Keystrips
The procedure for removing the two vertical keystrips within the plastic bezel is described
below, Replacement steps, unless otherwise indicated, are the reverse of removal.

Each keystrip has a ribbon cable soldered to it. Once removed, the keystrips
should be replaced with new parts. See the Ordering Replaceable I%?-& section
of this manual for part numbers and ordering information.
1. Remove the plastic bezel (See 5% Remove
the
PZustic Bezel in this section).
2. Locate the two ribbon cables (one on each side of the bezel) which connect the keystrips
to the 18-key integral keypad. Disconnect these cables at the end which connects to the
integral keypad.
3. Using your thumb, press on the keystrip's soldered connector until you detach the bottom of
the keystrip from the plastic bezel.
4. From the front of the plastic bezel, lift the keystrip up away from the bezel until it is
completely detached.
5. Thread the ribbon cable through the hole in the bezel where the keystrip connector was
located.
6. Replace the plastic bezel (see 5% Replace
the Plastic
Bezel in this section).
'Ib Replace the Keystrips
Follow the procedure below to instaR replacement keystrips.
1. Thread the keystrip's ribbon cable through the hole in the bezel where the keystrip
connector was located.
2. From the front of the plastic bezel, use your fingers to press the keystrip into place. The
connector on the keystrip should extend through the hole in the plastic bezel.
3. Connect the keystrip's ribbon cable to the 18-key integral keypad.
4. Replace the plastic bezel

Bezel in this section).
