Use the following procedure to check the operation of the admit\discharge function if your
CCM has arrhythmia monitoring.
1. Connect a patient signal simulator to your bedside monitor in accordance with the directions
specific to your simulator.
2. If no patient is admitted, perform the previous procedure to admit a patient.

The screen should show the following:
q
the patient's name
o learning ECG
o heart rate
q
paced condition
If the screen does not show any of the above, or the CCM does not appear to be working, refer
to the chapter on troubleshooting.
To check recorder function
1. At the CCM, push the (j-1 button on the recorder. A recording should print out. Press
the &J button and the recording should stop.
2. Prom the bedside, initiate a delayed recording. The delayed recording

Connect the patient signal simulator to the bedside monitor based on the instructions for the
simulator. Change the alarm limits for ECG to cause an alarm both for high and low alarm
situations. Validate the alarm, and make sure an alarm recording was generated.
