Troubleshooting the System
Checking the Status Log
There are two main sections in the status log: The fatal error section and the non-fatal error
section.
Note
I
i?
The status log which is accessed in Monitoring, Config and Demo modes
contains only the fatal errors.
Checking
the Patient
Location
Status
Log
The SmartLinkTM system generates error information in the form of error codes, which the
CCM enters into the Location Status Log. These error codes indicate the presence of faults in
the Fisher Berkeley SmartLink TM Automatic Locator System. If faults persist, print the Patient
Location Status Log and refer to your Fisher Berkeley service documentation, or call your
Fisher Berkeley service representative.
Fatal Errors
A fatal error is an error which will cause a restart of the system. Fatal errors are displayed
at the top of the Status Log task window, with a maximum of 14 entries. A stack of the first
seven entries is held at the top of the fatal error section with the lower seven entries being
updated on a first-in, first-out basis. Thus, when more than 14 fatal errors are reported to the
status log, only the first seven and the last seven errors to occur are displayed.
Fatal errors are separated from non-fatal errors by a blank line.
Non-Fatal Errors
A non-fatal error is an error which does not affect the performance of the system sufficiently
enough to cause a restart. Non-fatal errors are only displayed in the status log in Service mode.
The non-fatal error section of the status log can hold up to 14 entries. As with the fatal error
section, non-fatal errors are displayed in two groups of seven: the first seven and the most
recent seven.
Using the Status
Log
During normal operation, the status log may be entered for routine maintenance purposes. If a
repeated fatal error is discovered, this may indicate a transient hardware error in the system.
Replace the card in the slot defmed by the error code.
Notes
w Status Log in Monitoring Mode only contains fatal errors.
w Status log in Service Mode contains both fatal and non-fatal errors.
n
Always clear the status logs (accessed in Service and Monitoring Modes) after
repairing the system. This ensures that error messages corresponding to
earlier failures-will not be retained.
Start-Up Error Messages
If a problem occurs in the monitor during system start-up then an error message may appear at
the top of the screen. A start-up error message gives information similar to that which would
normally be displayed in the status log. An example of a start-up error message is shown in
