Grounding
the Instrument
To protect both the patient and the hospital staff, the Component Central Monitor is equipped
with a detachable three-wire power cable. This cable grounds the instrument to the power line
ground when plugged into an appropriate three-wire receptacle.
The Computer Module and Display Modules of
the
HP Component Central Monitor each'have a
ground terminal stud which allows connection to an equipotential grounding system.
Warning
Each component must be individually
grounded for safety and
s
interference
suppression purposes. However, if the Display Module is
mounted directly
on top of the Computer Module ("stacked"),
then only
the ground terminal
stud on the Computer Module need be used.
Combining
Instruments
Hewlett-Packard cannot guarantee safety when using non-proprietary equipment in conjunction
with the HP Component Central Monitor. Only HP equipment that is detailed in this guide
should be used. If in any doubt, consult the manufacturer(s) involved or an expert in this field,
to ensure that the necessary safety of all the instruments is not impaired by the proposed
combination.
