In this test, check resistance from the power cord ground pin to the HP Component Central
Monitor chassis using a Dempsey Safety Analyzer or conventional test equipment. Refer to
Figure 1 l-5.
'lb Perform
the Test
1. Place HP Component Central Monitor under test on a non-conductive surface.
2. Connect dual banana plug of Kelvin cable (part of analyzer, if used) between analyzer LO
METER terminal and negative (-) terminal of l/2 AMP SOURCE on analyzer.
3. Connect clip lead on other end to ground pin at male plug of HP Component Central Monitor
power cord.
4. Connect dual banana plug of a second Kelvin cable between HI METER terminal and
positive (+) terminal of l/2 AMP SOURCE on analyzer.
5. Clip other end of second Kelvin cable onto rear panel ground lug of HP Component Central
Monitor.
6. Set analyzer FUNCTION switch to EXTERNAL CURRENT position.
7. Press analyzer MILLIOHMS button and read resistance on meter current range Flex power
cord during test to detect intermittent problems.
TEST LIMIT: Less than or equal to 0.1 ohms.
If reading is greater than 0.1 ohms, replace power cord and check HP Component Central
Monitor power connector ground connections to chassis.
