Service Conditions
General:
An IVM Remote Unit must be installed on the LAN of a MEGACO IAD ETU. A remote unit is
recommended for each LAN with monitored VoIP endpoints. A remote unit is not required on the
LAN of the Qovia Central site.
Call quality is measured from VoIP endpoint to VoIP endpoint. The endpoint can be an IAD ETU or
an ITH terminal.
Monitoring call quality requires VoIP traffic to be visible to the monitoring port of the IVM Remote
Unit. This requires port mirroring of the applicable port on an Ethernet switch. A HUB can be used
only when no other voice or data device is connected to the HUB. Adding other voice or data
devices on the HUB causes voice quality degradation.
Call quality is measured using the RTCP data included in the RTP streams of VoIP calls. The IAD
ETU RTCP reporting supports delay with a granularity of two milliseconds.
Call quality can be accomplished only after the discovery process is successfully completed. This
process involves Telnet queries to the IAD ETUs and SNMP queries to the Ethernet switches.
Restrictions:
For Call Quality Monitoring, Set History feature, a 30-day history, is available, but it can be set only
in the current calendar month.
Client port customization is not yet supported. Client connections are fixed using TCP port 8080
for unencrypted browsing and TCP port 8443 for encrypted browsing.
The following sites are not covered:
MEGACO station sites with low-end switches (without SNMP and Multiport/VLAN mirroring)
Multiple Trunk sites with low-end switches (without SNMP and Multiport/VLAN mirroring)
IAD sites with old software versions that do not have RTCP calculation corrections
PVA(X)-U( ) ETU based applications
