1. Check the fuser unit.
a. Remove the fuser unit. Determine if the flash guard on the fuser is bent and
b. Reinstall the fuser unit. With the power OFF, measure the resistance from the
2. Verify the surface voltage setting in the configuration menu. Through the printer
control panel, select the Printer Control menu, Surface Volts option. Ensure that
the surface voltage setting is "580".
3. Check the I/O board.
a. Put the positive lead of the digital multimeter on TP12 (IN+) on the I/O
b. Measure the voltage when Error 1A occurs. Voltage should be under 2.5V.
c. Put the positive lead of the digital multimeter on pin 5 of CN23 on the I/O
d. Measure the voltage when Error 1A occurs. Voltage should be about 11.6V.
If voltage is not normal, replace the I/O board.
4. Check the high–voltage power unit.
a. Put the positive lead of ammeter (3mA range) on +HV1 terminal of the
b. Measure the voltage when Error 1A occurs. Voltage should be about 1000 µa.
If voltage is not normal, replace the high–voltage power unit.
