6. LED exposure.
When the controller receives the VSYNC signal, it waits until the printer asserts
the page leading-edge margin SYNC (raster sync) signal, and then asserts the
video signal acquisition VGATE (video gate) signal and VDO (video) signal. The
VGATE signal is successively asserted for individual horizontal scan periods.
However, the VDO signal is asserted only for the pixels to be printed. When the
VDO signal is asserted, LED illumination occurs.
7. Transfer/separation charger ON.
The back surface of the paper transported against the drum surface is charged to
transfer the toner image from the drum surface to the paper and separate the
paper from the drum.
8. Separation claw drive activation.
In the cut-sheet paper mode, the separation claws at the transfer/separation
section exit are used to properly separate each sheet of paper from the drum.
Whenever the paper leading edge arrives at the claw section, the claws are
solenoid-driven so as to mechanically separate the paper from the drum.
9. Fuser ON.
After the paper is separated from the drum upon completion of toner image
transfer, the paper comes underneath the fuser, and then the halogen lamp glows
steadily and the flash lamp intermittently lights.
Steps (4) through (6) and (8) are repeated as needed to cover all the pages to be
printed. Note, however, that the conditions indicated in steps (7) and (9)
continue. If the controller does not assert the PRNT signal for the next page
within the specified time after VSYNC signal assertion, the pickup motor does
not start operating and printing terminates in the following sequence.
10. VSYNC signal assertion stopped.
If the PRNT signal is not asserted by the controller at the time of LSCA signal
assertion, the printer concludes that printing is terminated and stops VSYNC
signal assertion for the next page.
11. Cut-sheet paper feed motor deactivation.
When the last page passes through the paper timing sensor section, the cut-sheet
paper feed motor stops.
