02 – Paper Empty (fan–fold paper): Upon Power–on
NOTE: If the printer fails to report a paper–empty state, ensure that the PNES
1. Check the PNES guide/sensor. The fan–fold paper should be between the PNES
sensor and the guide. Ensure that the paper is not too far into the PBFS (Paper
Back Feed Sensor); if it is, remove and reload the paper with the edge of the
paper in the middle of the tractors.
2. Check the PNES sensor.
a. Connect the positive lead of the digital multimeter on pin 5 of CN34 on the
b. Measure the voltage, which should be about 3V when the paper is between

d. Measure the voltage on pin 5, which should be about 0V.
If voltage is not normal, replace the PNES sensor after checking the harness.
3. If the fault still exists, replace the I/O board. (Refer to Chapter 9, "Board
Adjustments.")
