To add developer to the developing unit for the first time, perform the following
steps. (To replace developer in an existing developing unit, see page 3–40.)
1. Remove the developing unit from its package.
2. Locate the developer bottle.
3. On the developing unit, remove the three cover screws and the cover.
CAUTION
The toner sensor is sensitive to both electrostatic discharge (ESD) and positional
adjustment. Do not touch the sensor with your hand or jar it from its factory-set
position.
4. Shake the developer bottle several times, open the cap, and screw the nozzle on
tightly.
