Cut-sheet paper printing (optional)
1. Drum cleaning (pre-printing).
The same operations are performed as stated under fan-fold paper printing.
2. Transfer unit ascent.
When pre-printing drum cleaning is completed in the cut-sheet paper mode, the
transfer unit ascends.
3. Cut-sheet paper output path opening.
The paper output gate solenoid moves downward to open the cut-sheet paper
output path.
4. Paper loading.
The cut-sheet paper pickup motor and feed motor start running to load the
cut-sheet paper from the cassette into the transport path. When the cut-sheet
paper is detected by the paper registration sensor located between the supply and
feed rollers, the registration clutch operates at regular intervals to activate the
registration roller assembly. When the paper passing through the registration
roller section is detected by the paper timing sensor, the main unit feed motor
(running in the low speed) and vacuum fan motor start running so that LED
exposure begins after an elapse of a predetermined time.
The cut-sheet paper pickup motor stops after supplying each sheet of paper.
When printing a number of successive pages, this motor starts again after
verifying the PRNT signal for the next page. Therefore, while the printer is
printing one page after asserting its VSYNC signal, it is necessary that the
controller assert the PRNT signal for the next page.
5. VSYNC (vertical sync) signal assertion.
This operation is performed to inform the controller of completed preprocessing
and to make a request for image data. Note that the drum motor, discharge lamp,
main charger, pre-charger, cleaning bias, magroll motor, sleeve motor, and
developing bias have already been turned ON in the process of drum cleaning
prior to printing (1).
