05 – Paper Jam at Exit (D): Paper Output Section
1. Ensure that the paper output transport path guide is closed.
2. Check the face gate solenoid (FGSL). The face gate should be set in the down
position (for cut–sheet paper).
If the face gate is not set in the down position, the FGSL is normal if it operates
even if pin 11 of CN1 on the MPU board is open and pin 12 is contacted with the
PG, or if pin 12 is open and pin 11 is contacted with the PG. If the FGSL does
not operate, replace it.
3. Check the paper output gate solenoid (EGSL). The paper output gate should be
set in the down position (for fan–fold paper).
If the paper output gate is not set, the EGSL is normal if it operates even if pin 8
of CN1 on the MPU board is open and pin 9 is contacted with the PG, or if pin 9
is open and pin 8 is contacted with the PG. If the EGSL does not operate, replace
it.
4. Check the output paper sensor 1 (EPS1).
a. Connect the positive lead of the digital multimeter on pin 17 of CN6 on the
b. Push the EPS1 lever down and measure the voltage, which should be about
c. Raise the EPS1 lever up and measure the voltage, which should be about 0V.
If voltage is not normal, replace the EPS1 after checking the harness.
