Replacing the Photoreceptor Drum

When the drum life (300,000 pages maximum for bond paper) has been exceeded or
print quality is no longer acceptable, the photoreceptor drum must be replaced. Drum
life is dependent upon media used and proper maintenance and operation of the printer.
Print media other than bond paper (e.g., labels, card stock, plastic, or vinyl) may
reduce drum life as much as 50%.
To replace the drum, you will need the auxiliary rod. Please read all steps before
beginning the installation process.
Replacement of the photoreceptor drum should be performed only by an
individual who has received the appropriate training. Do not attempt this
procedure without the auxiliary rod (P/N 703531-170), as you may damage the
drum.
1. Turn the power switch OFF.
2. Unplug the power cord.
3. Open the printer front upper cover.
